Hello Folks We regret to inform you that due to a series of unfortunate events, Mark Hennesey-Barrett will not be able to present part 2 of Turbulence FD at the User Group Meeting. However, the meeting will go on as scheduled. We will have Jennifer Hachigian talk about some of the new features in 11.6. So, the show goes on... there will still be pizza and drinks. We hope to see you there

Hello Folks:
Our last meeting of 2013 will take place Sunday November 24, 2013. (There's no meeting in December due to the holiday season) As it's our tradition, on the last meeting of the calendar year, we offer pizza. So come on down for that and a great presentation. For our last meeting we have Mark Hennesey-Barrett again doing a part 2 of Turbulence FD. Mark would like to cover more advanced features of what Turbulence FD can do so if you were at the last meeting and you were "blown away" (pun was intended) by what Turbulence FD can do, then come and watch Mark blow up and burn more things. For those of you who couldn't attend and are waiting on the videos, your patience shall be rewarded. Though we don't require an RSVP for this meeting, we are asking that you let us know if you are planning to attend so we can get a good idea how many pizzas we need to order. Once they are gone, they are gone. You can email us or let us know on our Facebook Page. Our meetings this year were short but I still would like to thank the folks that always make it possible. Dave Jerrard and Jennifer Hachigian-Jerrard. Mark Hennesey-Barrett for agreeing to do this twice. Wayne Huffman for giving us a new home yet again. Ken Nign for the website and all the technical know how.
Meeting will take place at InterVideo in Burbank. We will start at 2pm
We hope to see you there. If you cannot attend, Happy Holidays to all of you and see you in 2014. Sincerely
Jessica Vitale

Hello Folks
For our October meeting we have Mark Hennessy-Barrett showing us Turbulence FD, a plug in for creating smoke and fire. Or as Mark likes to say "I like to BURN THINGS!".... Turbulence is an incredibly powerful yet easy-to-learn plugin for LightWave, packing super-high-level physics calculations into an easy-to-learn framework. It's use of OpenGL volume previews and it's ability to calculate on even gamer-grade nVidia GPUs puts true AAA-Movie Grade smoke-and-flame generation in the hands of LightWavers, so we can maybe put off having to learn FumeFX and Max for a couple more years. Turbulence FD is a smoke-and-flame generation tool (or "Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation and Rendering System" in grown-up speak) that's earned critical acclaim on motion pictures including Conan the Barbarian, Surrogates and Iron Sky. It's used in a variety of TV productions, including CSI, Fringe and Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome, Terra Nova and BATTLEDOGS. Mark Hennessey-Barrett is an experienced LightWave 3D artist, who counts Iron Sky among his credits. Mark will pack this meeting with lots of demos so like him, you too can end up "burning things". Meeting will start at 2pm. We will have refreshments, snacks, and Halloween candy. If you didn't come to our last meeting, make sure you know InterVideo has moved to a new location though it is still in Burbank. InterVideo 2000 N. Lincoln St. Burbank, CA 91504 Like us on Facebook: You've seen and heard this phrase often. Did you know we have a Facebook page? The old Facebook LightWave group page in which you had to ask permission to join will be phased out soon and we have a new Facebook page that you can just "Like"...It's much easier this way. https://www.facebook.com/lalightwave We hope to see you at the meeting. Sincerely, Jessica Vitale President Los Angeles LightWave Users Group |
August 25 2013 |
Hello Folks,
Yes, as promised, we are having a meeting in August. Sorry we've been on hiatus for a bit. First InterVideo moved, and our new location was supposed to be at the LightWave 3D Group Offices, but alas the room won't be available for our meeting on August 25th, for good reason. Everyone, please wish Mr. Rob Powers a very Happy Birthday on that day. Yeah!
However, I've made arrangements to have our next meeting at InterVideo's new location. It is no longer on N.Hollywood Way near Fry's Electronics but is instead nearby the Empire Center in Burbank. The address is given below and is also on the Location Page.
For this meeting, we will have Jennifer Hachigian-Jerrard explain more about the new Spline Control feature in LightWave 11.6. If you saw her demoing at SIGGRAPH regarding Splines, this meeting will cover even more and she'll answer any questions you have. There will also be some general Q&A as well.
This meeting will NOT cover the new ChronoSculpt or NevronMotion products. I will let Mr. Powers talk about those when the next meeting comes around in September.
The meeting will be on Sunday, August 25th from 2pm to 5pm and it will be free of charge. Drinks and snacks will be available.
The new address is:
InterVideo
2000 N. Lincoln St.
Burbank, CA 91504-3333
We hope to see you there,
Jessica Vitale
